Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?Are you looking for a place to develop as a researcher, deepen your knowledge, and expand your skills?The global population living with HIV are aging and at increased risk of comorbidity. at Karolinska Institutet has long experience of studying HIV epidemiology and comorbidity using Swedish national sociodemographic and clinical registers. Now, we are searching for a dedicated postdoc with experience of large-scale epidemiological studies to take part in an exciting translational register-based project studying burden, risk and prediction of comorbidity in people with HIV. Within our research group you will find an opportunity to develop yourself and use unique data sets to improve our understanding of HIV comorbidity and contribute to world-leading research. There is a strong interaction with other epidemiologists, clinicians, and biostatisticians locally and internationally. The goal of this postdoc position is to contribute to better identification of patients with HIV at risk of comorbidity, leading to early detection and treatment and thereby saving lives.The position is located within the Department of Medicine, Huddinge at Campus Flemingsberg. The department consists of five units with about 80 research groups. In the Clinical HIV epidemiology and comorbidity research group, there are approximately 10 people (doctoral students, master students, affiliated clinical researchers) with different backgrounds but with common research interests, namely the studying of HIV epidemiology. We have a strong interest in cutting edge methodologies, and a wide network of national and international research and clinical collaborators.Your missionThe Postdoctoral Fellow will work with an international research team to design and conduct research relevant to the research group’s agenda while having the possibility to enhance professional skills and research independence. The Postdoc’s time will be devoted to analysis, manuscript preparation and career development with particular focus on the , a register-based project including the adult Swedish population (>10 million people) linked to >10 nation-wide sociodemographic and health care registers including the Swedish HIV register It is essential that the candidate is enthusiastic about team-collaboration and has an interest in co-supervising graduate students. There are no teaching requirements, but opportunities to teach can be facilitated.Your profileTo be eligible for employment as a postdoctor, a PhD or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a Swedish PhD is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. Completion of your doctoral degree within the last three years is considered an advantage. If there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.You have a PhD in epidemiology/public health or biostatistics, alternatively a strong profile in such fields. Experience of large-scale epidemiological studies is a requirement, as well as being an independent programmer with expertise in R, STATA, or SAS and with advanced knowledge of relevant statistical methods. Experience of working with HIV cohort data is a strong asset. Previous experience of Swedish register data is a merit as is experience of prediction modeling and/or experience of health economic analyses. Documented excellent scientific writing ability, and strong oral communication skills in English are expected. As we have a close collaboration with patient representatives, clinical researchers and nurses, the ability to communicate popular science is a strong asset. The position is fully funded for 2 years with the possibility of extension for 2 more years. Salary will be paid.
