About the RoleAs the Engineering Director, you will lead the engineering function within a key product area, working closely with the Product Director and reporting directly to the CTO. Together, you will shape the roadmap and ensure delivery is aligned with the company's wider strategy.You will oversee multiple multidisciplinary delivery teams, each coordinated on a day-to-day basis by a Delivery Lead. These teams typically include Product Managers, backend and frontend engineers, QA engineers, and design resources. Your focus will be on driving engineering excellence, while the Product Director oversees Product Management and Design.In this role, you will manage and mentor 25-40 engineers across teams and offices, fostering collaboration and cohesion. You will serve as the senior engineering voice for your product area, ensuring effective execution, strong partnerships across departments, and alignment at both the technical and organizational levels.Key Responsibilities & Impact
  • Serve as a decision-maker in the R&D Senior Management Team (SMT), reviewing and approving product proposals while ensuring alignment with company-wide strategy.
  • Apply deep expertise in platform engineering to enable fast, secure, and robust deliverables.
  • Own infrastructure strategy and operations: Oversee the design, scalability, reliability, and security of the company's core infrastructure. Ensure effective cost control and optimization of cloud resources, balancing performance and financial efficiency.
  • Define procedural strategies for the Product Area Development teams, implementing best practices and KPIs to drive efficiency, quality, and cross-team cohesion.
  • Collaborate with other Engineering Directors to plan resources, resolve technical challenges, address performance or resourcing conflicts, and navigate competing priorities to benefit the wider organization.
  • Manage the budget and resource planning for a 25-person department of Architects, backends, DevOps, and QA engineers across multiple offices and countries.
  • Partner with the Commercial team on acquisition opportunities, including technical due diligence, Compliance, evaluation of code assets, production approaches, and integration planning.
