At SKF Automotive's, we're looking for a Data Platform Architect who thrives in a hands-on environment and enjoys shaping the future of data infrastructureAbout the RoleIn this pivotal role, you will be a principal architect and builder of the foundational technology & platform that underpins our entire Data operations. You will be responsible for creating the architectural blueprint and technology roadmap that will guide our evolution. By proactively partnering with Data Product Managers & Data Domain Leads, you ensure our data platform is not only powerful and scalable today but is also prepared for the challenges and opportunities of tomorrow.What you can expect in the role
  • Shape the Strategic Roadmap: You'll help define the architectural blueprint and lead the development of a clear, actionable roadmap for our cloud-native data platform.
  • Build Self Service Data Platform: Lead the design and implementation of self-service data platform capabilities. This includes building automated provisioning, reusable ingestion and governance frameworks.
  • Implement Security Standards: Collaborate with Cloud security engineers, Cybersecurity Architects and implement data quality, lineage, and compliance frameworks to ensure secure and trustworthy data use.
  • Implement Governance Policies: Colloborate with Data Governace experts and implement data governance policies, lifecycle management, and cataloging practices
  • Lead and Collaborate: Foster a strong engineering culture by sharing knowledge, mentoring others, and collaborating across teams to solve challenges and drive continuous improvement
We expect you to have/be
  • Academic background in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cloud Computing, Software Engineering, or a related field is considered relevant.
  • Several years of hands-on experience in data architecture, data platform engineering, or related fields, ideally within tech-driven or industrial environments.
  • Proficient with tools such as, Snowflake, Databricks, Dbt, Informatica, Azure, Terraform
  • Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL.
  • Strong expertise in data modeling, architecture patterns, and cloud-native data technologies.
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, and containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Strong understanding of modern architectural paradigms like Data Mesh, Data Fabric, and Data as a Product, and the ability to apply them in practice.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to balance technical depth with strategic vision.
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

This role can be located at any of SKF Automotive sites globally, and the preferred locations is Gothenburg - Sweden, Bangalore - India, and Cajamar São Paolo - Brazil.You will report to the Head of Data Factory.
