Right now, we’re searching for a Backend Developer in our Stockholm office – are you ready to hit play on an exciting career change?The RoleAs a Backend Developer at Viaplay, you’ll work on improving and developing our platform to meet the challenges of a continuously growing user base. Your contributions will directly influence how we attract and convert visitors into loyal users of our commercial streaming platform in our Engineering organization. You’ll contribute to building and refining our backend services, as well as supporting our product teams with a seamless user experience by aligning the backend and tooling.We’re modernizing our services to enhance scalability and performance, and you’ll play a key role in driving this transformation. With a cutting-edge serverless architecture built on Node.js, Rust and AWS, you’ll thrive in an innovative and forward-thinking tech environment.You’ll join a newly formed platform team that’s small but mighty, with members in Stockholm and Barcelona. Our mission? To deliver platform solutions that align with both technical and product visions, focusing on the commercial structure of our streaming service.Here’s what your daily challenges might look like:
  • Take ownership of technical design, complexity assessment, development, testing, and deployment
  • Collaborate with other teams transforming our platform into modern solutions
  • Participate in weekly guild meetings, contributing to best practices, long-term strategy, and maintaining technical excellence
  • Continuously invest in your personal growth and skill development
What we’re looking forWe understand you may feel confident ticking certain boxes more than others and that’s why we always keep an open mind in our recruitment process. But, in order to thrive in this role, we do believe you’ll have at least some experience in the following:
  • Developing services using technologies such as Node.js or Rust
  • Strong grasp of object-oriented programming principles
  • Familiarity with test-driven or behavior-driven development (TDD/BDD) and related frameworks
  • Experience developing services in cloud environments, preferably AWS
  • A track record of contributing to refactoring initiatives in a dynamic organization
  • Curious and motivated by collaborating with and supporting other teams
It’s a bonus if you have:
  • Experience building state-less, high-transactional end-user products
  • Advanced knowledge of AWS services (S3, SQS, Lambda, DynamoDB, etc)
