- with focus on education and researchDo you want to contribute to better health for all?The Department of Global Public Health is a multidisciplinary department with the aim to advance knowledge about challenges and opportunities for public health in a local, national, and global setting. Many researchers in the department are scientific advisors to authorities and other decision makers at regional, national, and international levels. The department is responsible for three international master’s programs and the researchers at the department are actively involved in teaching at undergraduate, advanced and doctoral level. The department has 12 research groups, around 120 PhD students and about 140 employees.Description of the subject areaGlobal health systems research is about how health promotion, prevention, and treatment efforts are developed, evaluated, and implemented in health care systems and how they connect to other parts of society in low- and middle-income countries. Research in this area contributes to the development of strategies and measures to improve access to care, reduce costs and ensure that all people, regardless of where they live, have access to quality care.Your missionYou will conduct and lead high-quality research in the field of global health systems research in low- and middle-income countries, using both quantitative and qualitative methods. You will also work to identify and evaluate clinical interventions and collaborate with other researchers in the field at KI, nationally and internationally, for the strategic development of the subject and to attract research funding nationally and internationally.Within the scope of your employment, you will be course leader for the Master's programme in global health, work with educational development and quality assurance, and supervise Master's students, doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers.Eligibility requirementsTo be eligible for an employment as Professor with focus on education and research the applicant must have demonstrated excellent pedagogical skills; very good scientific skillsFurther eligibility requirements
  • You shall have a PhD in global health or equivalent.
It is a requirement that you have completed 10 weeks of courses on teaching in higher education, as indicated in the recommendations of the Association of Swedish Higher Education Institution. If you lack such education at the time of employment, you must undergo such education during the first two years of employment.Assessment criteriaThe Professorship has a focus on education and research.   • Medical degree
  • Experience of global health system research in low- and middle-income countries
  • Experience of leading large research projects in low- and middle-income countries
  • Experience of subject-relevant methodology development, both quantitative and qualitative methods

  • Clinical background as a nurse or midwife
  • Collaboration with international universities, organisations and other actors in global public health, as well as previous national and international research funding.
