
Functional Safety Engineers (ISO26262)

- Drive and facilitate ISO 26262 functional safety processes across the entire automotive V-cycle, from concept to production release.
- Perform hazard analysis, risk assessment, and safety concept development according to automotive safety standards.
- Define, allocate, and trace safety requirements from system to hardware and software levels.
- Develop functional safety work products, including Safety Plans, Safety Cases, and confirmation measures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional groups to ensure appropriate implementation of safety mechanisms and validation methods.
- Support safety analyses such as FMEA, FTA, and FMEDA to confirm system reliability and compliance.
- Lead functional safety assessments and reviews for both internal and customer-driven projects.
- Work closely with quality assurance, development, and test teams to achieve ASPICE and ISO 26262 compliance.
- Advocate and champion a culture of safety, best practices, and continuous improvement.
- Over 5 years of proven experience as a Functional Safety Engineer within the automotive or embedded systems industry.
- Solid understanding of ISO 26262:2018 and its practical application in automotive system and software development.
- Experience with safety lifecycle activities: hazard analysis, risk assessment, safety concept, safety requirements, verification, and validation.
- Hands-on competency in safety analysis techniques such as FMEA, FTA, and FMEDA.
- Familiarity with automotive standards and models, including ASPICE, AUTOSAR, and the V-Model.
- Ability to interpret technical documentation, create clear safety work products, and maintain traceability.
- Strong collaborative skills to work with development, QA, and systems engineering teams.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
- Certification or formal training in ISO 26262 (e.g. TÜV Functional Safety Engineer).
- Experience with tools supporting requirements management, traceability, and functional safety (e.g. Polarion, IBM DOORS, Medini Analyze).
- Knowledge of software and hardware development processes in AUTOSAR environments.
- Previous consulting or customer-facing project experience in automotive safety is a strong plus.
