Amanuens Position in Machine Learning of Surface Properties for Heterogeneous CatalysisMultimetallic nanoparticles are promising catalysts for sustainable technologies, but their vast diversity of surface sites makes theoretical understanding difficult. This project will develop and benchmark machine learning models to predict local electronic density of states (DOS) at alloy catalytic sites, enabling rapid assessment of site-specific reactivity and guiding the design of advanced catalytic materials. The student will join the at the . The lab tackles fundamental questions in surface- and electrochemistry aiming to design materials for (electro)catalytic and energy storage applications supporting a sustainable society. As a member of the lab, you will be exposed to a broad range of computational methodologies, ranging from material characterization, via machine-learning and high-throughput methods, to ab initio calculation of electrochemical reaction kinetics. The position is intended to run in parallel with master level studies at a Swedish higher education institutions and is part of the , including multidisciplinary collaborations with local and national research groups.Job descriptionThis project will create computational tools to predict site-specific d-electron DOS in multimetallic nanoparticles, linking local structure and composition to catalytic behavior. By bridging atomistic theory and machine learning, the work will help explain activity trends and guide the rational design of alloy catalysts for sustainable energy applications. The results will contribute to accelerating the discovery of efficient catalytic materials beyond traditional trial-and-error approaches. In this role, you will also conduct research within the project and support collaborations with local and national research groups. The position will help you prepare and plan your future career in industry, academia, or other sectors.Contract termsThe employment is limited to seven months at 20% rate, or the equivalent.Mandatory qualifications:
