And with the rise of agentic commerce (yes, the buzz is real and it’s so hot right now), your work will be right at the heart of what’s next in the future of digital transactions.What you need to know about the roleLead and mentor a team of software engineers working on payment systems, ensuring high performance, engagement, and growth.Collaborate closely with Product, Compliance, and Finance teams to define and deliver payment features and improvements.Oversee the design, development, and deployment of scalable and secure payment solutions.Drive technical excellence through code reviews, architecture discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives.Manage sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and other agile ceremonies to ensure smooth delivery.Monitor system performance and reliability, and lead incident response and root cause analysis when needed.Partner with stakeholders to define technical roadmaps and align engineering efforts with business goals.Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous learning within the team.Stay up to date with trends in the payments industry and evaluate new technologies or vendors as needed.What you need to bringProven experience in team leadership and mentoring.Coding experience in Java, Kotlin, React, or similar technologies.Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Proven experience leading cross-functional engineering teams in a fast-paced fintech or payments environment.Ability to mentor and grow engineers through coaching, feedback, and career development planning.Skilled in agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and driving continuous delivery and improvement.Experience in setting technical direction and aligning engineering goals with business objectives.Track record of building scalable, resilient, and high-availability systems.Experience with observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog) and incident management.Strong focus on quality, testing, and automation in CI/CD pipelines.Preferred Qualification:Master's degree (like an MBA or MEM) in engineering or computer science or similarSubsidiary: PayPalTravel Percent: 0PayPal does not charge candidates any fees for courses, applications, resume reviews, interviews, background checks, or onboarding.
