Lund University was founded in 1666 and is repeatedly ranked among the world’s top universities. The University has around 47 000 students and more than 8 800 staff based in Lund, Helsingborg and Malmö. We are united in our efforts to understand, explain and improve our world and the human condition. Lund University welcomes applicants with diverse backgrounds and experiences. We regard gender equality and diversity as a strength and an asset. The Centre for Mathematical Sciences is a joint department at the Faculty of Science and Engineering (LTH) with approximately 150 employees. The department consists of five divisions: 'Mathematics N' at the Faculty of Science, 'Algebra, Analysis, and Dynamical Systems,' 'Applied Mathematics,' and 'Computer Vision and Machine Learning' at the Faculty of Engineering, as well as Mathematical Statistics, which is cross-faculty.The position is located at the Division of Mathematical Statistics, where we currently have around 25 employees. The research is conducted in the areas of probability theory, stochastic processes, statistical theory, statistical signal processing, financial mathematics, computational statistics, and environmental statistics. Machine learning and AI are naturally integrated into several of the research areas mentioned above. Our research is often supported by organizations such as the Wallenberg Foundation, national strategic research areas, and the Swedish Research Council (VR).The department offers education leading to bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in science, as well as teacher training at the Faculty of Science and bachelor's, civil engineering, master's, and doctoral degrees at the Faculty of Engineering. The subject has expanded significantly in recent years, partly due to the growing interest in machine learning and AI, with a very large number of students choosing to write their theses at the department every year.Job description
